Counselling tends to be oriented in equal measure to the past, present and future as well as problem and solution focused, where as Psychotherapy tends to deal more with seriously disturbed individuals such as those with depression, anxiety or personality disorder. Counselling is any relationship in which one person is helping another person to better understand and solve some problem.  Counsellors can be anyone who wants to, friends, relatives, academic advisors, teachers, and many others. Counsellors have a broad range of experience in developing "helping relationships" and working with many different situations.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The main attributes that you will look for in a therapist is;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That they listen to what you have to say and helps you to untangle your thought and help you understand your emotions within certain situations&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That they work with you to achieve your goal whilst still repecting your personal and cultural values&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Helps you gain your own insight into how you feel you should act, think and feel &lt;br /&gt;Works throug your issues and helps you to work out your own problems and how to see what can be changed and what can’t.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Helps you accept what cannot be changed yet helps you work out a way to deal with the issues&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Helps you to become aware of what is important to you and your wellbeing&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Counselling and psychotherapy is available for many different issues. There are many types available. Some of the problems that people face or require councelling or psychotherapy for are, aging, chronic illness/disability, cultural issues, domestic violence, sexuality, sexual abuse, self esteem or self image issues, anxiety, denial, relationship issues, marriage counselling, anger management, etc just to name a few.&lt;br /&gt;The main issues that a therapists will face is the lack of cooperation from their clients. Your therapist cannot help you if you do not talk to them about your problems or concerns. Therapists are not there to judge. They are there to simply listen and to give advice whilst helping find resolve.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To get the most out of your therapy session be ready to focus on a specific problem or issue. Be prepared for your sessions. Attend your sessions and take an active part in them. Complete (or at least attempt) any "homework." Spinal manipulation was practised by Hippocrates in the 5th Century BC. Chiropractic as we know it today was developed in 1895 by a Canadian, Daniel D Palmer. The chiropractic belief is based on his findings that 95% of all health problems could be prevented or treated using spinal adjustment, and 5% by adjustments of other joints. It is proposed that misaligned vertebrae, or subluxations, caused interference and interrupted the proper flow of information from the spine to an internal organ. As a result, the human body would experience disharmony which would result in loss of health.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Chiropractic therapy is based on the scientific fact that your body is a self-regulating, self-healing organism. These important functions are controlled by the brain, spinal cord, and all the nerves of the body. If there is a misalignment the result is pain and or discomfort with disrupted information pathways. Once this misalignment is fixed, the body will heal itself within reason.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; It is generally accepted that chiropractors can help sore backs but it is only about 20% of what chiropractic can do for a patient. There is a multitude of other conditions that chiropractors relieve. But this is no longer so. The psychic and spiritual world has many dedicated followers and many different terms that define the exact nature of each of the special gifts that their members hold.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A Psychic is a name that refers to a person who has extra sensory perception or paranormal powers. A psychic is a person who is believed to possess extra-sensory abilities, including: clairvoyance, psychometry and precognition. It should be noted that a psychic is able to "sense" the spiritual world on a purely material level and not be able to "tune in" to the spirit world, except by accident. Tanning devices were earlier called tanning beds or sun beds. It seems that the manufacturers and operators of these devices thought that the term solarium provides their services more distinction and class. The tanning process involves lying in an enclosure that surrounds you with UV light. However, overexposure to UV light also causes skin cancer. Some experts recommend exposure to a certain amount of UV for therapeutic purposes, for skin conditions such as acne. UV exposure can promote the formation and release of the body's own endorphins, similar in effect to morphine. It is quite possible that using solarium tanning beds might be addictive. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The device emits ultraviolet radiation (95% UVA and 5% UVB) to generate a cosmetic tanning effect. The maximum exposure time in most tanning beds used in solariums is 20 minutes, but it varies from bed to bed. A person usually starts with much shorter session time and work their way to the maximum exposure time in about 4 weeks. Session times can range from 5 minutes to 45 minutes, depending on many factors. Because of several alleged adverse effects on human health, the World Health Organization does not recommend the use of UV tanning in solariums for cosmetic reasons. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;While the primary reason to use a tanning bed is the cosmetic, there are many other reasons for their use. It is common for people to tan simply because it makes them feel good. Also, most tanning beds in solariums generate great amount of heat, including infrared radiation, which has deep penetrating action that can relieve minor muscle aches. People who use solariums for these reasons will often tan all year long, typically once or twice a week. Most salon patrons visit the solarium every 1 to 3 days. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The tan produced by solarium is not as deep as a tan produced in the sun. This is because solariums have higher overall levels of UV than the sun on a typical day. This could cause someone with a dark indoor tan to go outside and get bad sunburn quickly because the deeper levels of their skin have not been exposed previously, and have no natural protection above what white skin would have. It is advisable that a person does not tan indoor and outdoors on the same day, due to the likely chance that they will get overexposed. Because overexposure actually destroys melanin, getting sunburn will result in less tanning and greatly increases your chances for skin cancer later in life.&lt;br /&gt;UV radiation is the most prominent and universal cancer causing agent present in our environment. UV radiation and use of solariums are known to be a human carcinogen. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Research has revealed the implications for tanning beds present in the solariums. There is persuasive evidence that each of the three main types of skin cancer, basal cell carcinoma (BCC), squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and melanoma, is caused by sun exposure.  Women who visit a solarium at least once a month are 55% more likely to later develop melanoma than women who didn't artificially suntan. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Exposure to UV radiation has a harmful effect on our immune system. Also, the activity of natural killer cells and T cells is reduced. Cytokine regulation is disrupted by UV exposure. Ultraviolet radiation exposure may ease the growth of skin neoplasm and the spreading of skin-associated infections due to stimulation of suppressor T cells. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;While the dangers of UVB are widely recognized, it has been convenient to regard UVA as 'safe'. UVA is less likely to burn the skin, and it has been called the "bronzing light." However, it is clearly associated with inducing, aging changes in the skin and in promoting the development of skin cancer. Excessive exposure to UVA radiation will cause premature aging, including wrinkles, sunspots, and loss of skin elasticity. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Exposure to UVB light leads to production of vitamin D in the skin. It is believed that solariums are useful for the treatment of Seasonal Affective Disorder though this is disputed at present. One of the most commonly mentioned benefits of tanning in a solarium is, time savings. To name just a few types;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ballroom West Coast Swing; A style of swing popular in the ballroom dance school organizations and different from the style performed in the California night clubs and Swing dance clubs.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Savoy Swing; A style of Swing popular in the New York Savoy Ballroom in the 30's and 40's originally danced to Swing music. The Savoy style of swing is a very fast, jumpy, casual-looking style of dancing&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;West Coast Swing; A style of Swing emphasizing nimble feet popular in California night clubs in the 30's and 40's and voted the California State Dance in 1989.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Mambo was born in 1943 after the fusion of Swing and Cuban Music. The original Mambo dance was a lot different to what we see today as it was toned down due to the violent acrobatics that were performed.  After its first birth onto the dance floors, the Mambo craze did not last long and today the Mambo is much limited to advanced dancers. Teachers agreed that this is one of the most difficult of dances. One of the greatest contributions of the Mambo is that it led to the development of the Cha-Cha and the authentic night-club style of mambo dancing, which in the 1990's is increasingly known as Salsa.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Salsa is a mix of many Latin and Afro-Caribbean dances with each playing a large role of the Salsa evolution. Salsa is similar to Mambo in that both have a pattern of six steps danced over eight counts of music. The dances share many of the same moves. In Salsa, turns have become an important feature, so the overall look and feel are quite different form those of Mambo. Mambo moves generally forward and backward, whereas, Salsa has more of a side to side feel.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The correct name for belly dancing is actually "Oriental Dance"? The Arabic name for it is raqs sharqi, which means "dance of the East/Orient", and the Turkish name is Oryantal. For centuries, the role of Oriental dance in Middle Eastern society has been that of a folk dance that people would do at joyous occasions such as weddings, the birth of a child, community festivals, and other events that bring people together to party. Unlike acupuncture, that uses needles to achieve response, acupressure uses gentle but firm physical pressure exerted by hand, elbow, and foot or with the aid of different devices. Pressure is applied to different acupuncture points found on the human body surface to achieve the desired remedial effect. Many East Asian martial arts extensively use this technique to incapacitate their opponents. As per the historians acupressure is older than acupuncture, but acupressure lost popularity with the advent of acupuncture. Still it continues to be most effective method for the treatment of tension related ailments and pain.&lt;br /&gt;   &lt;br /&gt;While we talk of acupressure and acupuncture we continuously refer to the traditional Chinese principles of acupressure or acupuncture points. The traditional Chinese principles treat the human body as a whole; it represents various jiaos or levels of the ventral body cavity. Any disease is taken as a loss of balance between the yin and yang energies and treatment of disease is attempted by modifying the activity of one or more systems of function. Chinese principle holds that acupuncture or acupressure works by normalizing the free flow of qi (vital energy), blood and body fluids (jin ye) throughout the body. Pain is treated by correcting the local or systemic upsurge or insufficiency. Pain is considered to indicate blockage or stagnation of the flow of qi, blood and/or fluids, the delicate balance between qi and blood is of primary concern in Chinese principle, hence the saying blood is the mother of qi, and qi is the controller of blood. Both qi and blood work together to move and to nourish the body fluids.&lt;br /&gt;Acupressure or acupuncture points are located along several layers of pathways, most commonly the twelve primary pathways or meridians, located throughout the body. Beside that other pathways are the eight unusual Pathways Qi Jing Ba Mai, Luo Vessels, the Divergent and the Sinew Channels. Ten of the primary pathways are named after organs of the body, eleventh pathway is named for the membrane that wraps the heart, the last pathway is the 'three spaces' (San Jiao). The twelve primary pathways run vertically, bilaterally, and symmetrically and every channel corresponds to and connects internally with one of the twelve organs. There are six yin and six yang channels in all. Out of these, three yin and three yang channels are present on each arm, and three yin and three yang on each leg.&lt;br /&gt;All the acupuncture points of a channel lie on its external pathway. The internal pathways are the deep path of the channel where it enters the body cavities and related organs. The external pathways of the twelve channels depict three complete circuits of the body, chest to hands, hands to head, head to feet, feet to chest, etc. There are some electronic devices now available which will make a noise when the correct acupressure/acupuncture point is pressed. As soon as a point is pressed, the muscle tension give way to the pressure, enabling the muscle fibers to stretch and relax, blood to flow freely, and toxins to be released and eliminated. Increased circulation also brings in more oxygen and other nutrients to the affected area. This increases the body's resistance to illness and promotes a longer, healthier, more vital life. When the blood and bioelectrical energy circulate properly, we have a greater sense of harmony, health, and well-being. The acupressure expert decides which points to treat by observing and questioning the patient in order to make a diagnosis according to the tradition. There are four diagnostic methods: inspection, auscultation and olfaction, inquiring, and palpation. &lt;br /&gt;The whole process I relatively pain free. After prolonged finger pressure is applied directly on the pressure point; gradual, steady, penetrating pressure for approximately three minutes on the affected point is ideal. A general guideline is that the pressure should be firm enough so that it hurts between pleasant, firm pressure and outright pain. The middle finger is the longest and strongest of the fingers and is best suited for applying acupressure. The thumb is strong, too, but often lacks sensitivity. The knuckles or fist or other tools can be used according to specific requirements. The rule of thumb is to apply slow, firm pressure on the point at a 90 degree angle from the surface of the skin. It's important to apply and release finger pressure gradually because this allows the tissues time to respond, promoting healing. After repeated acupressure sessions using different degrees of pressure, the patient will begin to feel a pulse at the point. This pulsation is a good sign, it means that circulation has increased in the affected area. Each body and each area of the body requires a different amount of pressure.  &lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;At present different kinds of acupressure are being practiced. The same age-old pressure points are used in all of them to date. Varying rhythms, pressures and techniques create different styles of acupressure. Shiatsu, for instance, the most well-known style of acupressure, can be quite vigorous, with firm pressure applied to each point for only three to five seconds. Another kind of acupressure gently holds each point for a minute or more. Pressing with an intermittent, fast beat is stimulating; a slower pressure creates a deeply relaxing effect on the body.&lt;br /&gt;Slow motion kneading uses the thumbs and fingers along with the heels of the hands to squeeze large muscle groups firmly. This motion is similar to that of kneading a large mass of dough. This relieves general stiffness, shoulder and neck tension, constipation, and spasms in the calf muscles.&lt;br /&gt; Brisk rubbing uses friction to stimulate the blood and lymph. The skin is rubbed lightly to relieve chilling, swelling, and numbness by increasing circulation, as well as to benefit the nerves and tone of the skin. &lt;br /&gt;Quick tapping with fingertips stimulates muscles on unprotected, tender areas of the body such as the face. For larger areas of the body, such as the back or buttocks, loose fist is used. This can improve the functioning of nerves and sluggish muscles in the area. &lt;br /&gt;Acupressure can be very effective in helping relieve headaches, eyestrain, sinus problems, neck pain, backaches, arthritis, muscle aches, and tension due to stress. To achieve the tanning effect on the skin long solar exposure was required. Regular visits to the beaches were a regular feature for weekends and holidays to get a nice sun tanned body. All of a sudden skin cancer and its relationship with sun tanning were discovered in 1960s. This made the sun tanning a vulnerable proposition for the masses. Since the tanning had become very popular till that point of time, hence people immediately started looking for the alternatives. As a result popularity of solariums was considerably increased, but solariums had problems of their own. There was constant risk of skin damage and broken capillaries due to constant exposure of the body in high temperatures. The next alternative discovered was the artificial or synthetic tanning, spray tanning being part of it. Spray tanning was quite safe and got the nod from Skin Cancer Organizations, American Academy of Dermatology, Canadian Dermatology Association, The American Cancer Society and the American Medical Association etc.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The spray tans are applied by professional technicians using specialized equipment designed for applying self tanning sprays, such as an LVLP spray gun, and HVLP spray gun equipment types. Pedicures are not only limited for nails, the dead skin of feet is also rubbed off using a rough stone called pumice stone under this process.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Like other beauty treatments, the Pedicure also has a long and rich history and reference in the past. In the current time more and more people are opting for pedicures for different reasons world over. Pedicures are actually a set of foot caring procedures which include foot exfoliation, foot care, nail care, foot massage and foot bath. There are two great reasons for a pedicure; the first reason is to give the feet a well-deserved pampering and deep cleaning and the second reason is to add a sexy look to the toes for summer sandals.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Soft and supple feet can be had by regular use of pumice stone and massaging with moisturizers to counter the effect of daily wear and tear on the feet. Medicated creams or Vaseline applied to the feet before retiring to bed work wonders. Feet and leg massage are an important part of pedicures. The technique helps to relax the person having the treatment. Foot reflexology is extensively used while giving the foot massage; it relieves many nerves that end in feet. Therapists may also massage with hot stones in their hands, and use special creams that have menthol in them and which are said to help rejuvenate the foot. The moisturizer is now washed off the toenails with soap and water and then dried. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now it time for beautification of nails, space is created between toes with a foam toe separator and one coat of base coat, two coats of color and one coat of top coat is applied to the nails. This includes the muscles, connective tissues, tendons, ligaments, joints, lymphatic vessels, organs of the gastrointestinal system etc. to achieve a beneficial response.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There are several different types of massages available all over the world. The benefits of these massages may vary from soothing to revitalizing. At present over 200 massage techniques are known to us. To know a technique we have tried to provide a list of techniques in alphabetical order: &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Anma  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This form of massage initiated in Japan about 1300 years ago. Anma is applied on deep tissues, with no oils and this is based on kneading movements.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Amma Therapy  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In Chinese, amma means "push-pull." Amma therapy is concerned with removing blockages and balancing the body's flow of energy along its meridians with a combination of many therapeutic massage techniques. This form of massage was invented in China.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Aston Patterning&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This technique was developed in the mid-1970s by dancer Judith Aston. She tailored a program to ease rehabilitation, improve performance, and prevent injury; this technique is known as Aston Patterning. It combines not only massage, but also retraining of the body through movements and attentiveness to maintain change. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ayurvedic Massage&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ayurveda is a natural health care system which originated in India over 5000 years ago. It involves massage therapies too. Ayurvedic Massage therapy is popularly known as Abhyanga. This therapy is usually performed by two therapists working simultaneously, using a heated, select mix of special herbal oils. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Barefoot Deep Tissue Massage&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In this technique clients are loosely clothed and laid on a floor-mat. No oil is used. It is a basic method that offers quick results for pain and stress. This technique starts lightly and goes deeper when the outer muscle fibers begin to relax, permitting the successive layers of muscle to be addressed effectively. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Chair Massage&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This technique allows you to be massaged fully clothed in a specially designed chair to relax you. Haelan therapy tries to help people with physical illness to take part in their curing from a more holistic viewpoint. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Hakomi Therapy&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Hakomi therapy is a system of body-centered psychotherapy. This technique leads the individual to an understanding of the unaware beliefs and approaches that drive behavior and limit the responses. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Hoshino Therapy &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Hoshino Therapy is an official medical therapy in Argentina. It is a particular form of acupressure. Tui Na has been used to treat or complement the treatment of many conditions; musculoskeletal disorders and chronic stress-related disorders of the digestive, respiratory, and reproductive systems.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;Zhi Ya massage &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This technique of Chinese massage is primarily based on acupressure. Body piercing is a modification of body. Many people practice body piercing for religious and other cultural motives, whereas many people, especially in the modern Western countries, choose body piercing to satisfy spiritual, ornamental, or sexual motives. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Body piercing has a rich history that dates back to ancient times. Whether, as a means of personal expression, to designate societal standing, or as part of religious ritual, or as a tool of beauty enhancement, body piercing has been around us around the world almost since mankind existed on the face of earth. Mummified bodies with piercings have been discovered. Deuteronomy 15:12-17 dictates ear piercing as a mark of slavery. Leviticus 19:28 says to not pierce your body. Nose piercing has been common in India since the 16th century and ear lobe piercing was common for men and women since the Vedic era. For a tongue piercing you will have increased saliva. However be aware that sometimes it can go wrong in some cases an immediate visit to your doctor would be the only available solution.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Depending on the body part, time of healing can vary anywhere from a few weeks to more than a year. After getting a piercing, good care should be taken afterwards, don’t pick or tug at it, keep the area clean with soap, and don't touch it without washing the hands first. Never use hydrogen peroxide because it can break down newly formed tissue. In case of mouth piercing, use of antibacterial mouthwash after eating is advisable.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When the piercing has fully healed, the initial jewelry may be changed or removed for short periods. Removal of piercing is very simple. Remove the jewelry making sure not to pull or irritate the pierced area. Alternative therapy is generally safe and effective. Conventional practitioners have adopted it and it is no longer considered as alternative therapy. Alternative therapies are commonly categorized together with complementary medicine under the term 'complementary and alternative medicine' (CAM for short).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Some critics say that some of the fields of alternative therapy are not scientific. Jurisdictions also differ concerning the legality of the branches of alternative therapy. Numerous supporters of alternative therapy strongly disagree with the limitations extended by the government agencies that approve medical treatments. India, home of several alternative systems of medicines, has already recognized many of the alternative therapies. However, many patients are usually unwilling to share this information with their doctors since they fear it will hurt their doctor-patient relationship. However not informing their conventional doctor can sometimes cause harm. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Many critics of alternative therapy claim that people have been hurt or killed directly from various alternative therapies or the subsequent avoidance of conventional medicine which they consider unnecessary.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It may be very surprising to learn that many of the prescription drugs are now being tagged as dangerous for human health, there is a big problem posed by people's attitude in using the alternative remedies, the problem is not in those remedies themselves, but in the way people like to use them to address their health challenges. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In other words people generally come to the alternative therapy searching for that magic pill to cure them with a snap of finger, as the conventional prescription drugs do not offer cure usually, instead they only help to suppress the symptoms for the time being. Vast majority of chronic diseases are caused by the lifestyle adapted by the patients themselves.  Usually patients are asking for a magic herb to cure their symptom. If they have pain, they want a pill that will eliminate the pain. The problem with patients is that they fail to recognize the internal cause of their pain, or they fail to take ownership of their role in creating the disease they are expressing. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This is extremely frustrating for practitioners of alternative therapies. Because therapists want to help patients, but most patients really aren't looking for long-term solutions or the cure, what they're actually looking for is short-term masking of their symptoms, using products that they can call natural.  There is a huge challenge before the therapist and that is educating patients. However, most patients aren't looking to be educated. They don't want to change their lifestyle, and they don't want to have to do anything that's too uncomfortable or unfamiliar. Alternative medicine is not better than conventional medicine if the patient treats it as a temporary cover up for a set of symptoms that they have created in their life through their reluctance to change that lead to long term health goals. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Alternative therapies really can do wonders for you, if you turn to them whole heartedly and follow them religiously for a long term cure of your problems.
